Re: Feldpost Number database
AHA! THought so! THanks for the clarification! Note when there is a 0 at the front often you drop it and enter the 4 digits, like 9909 which returns the following:

Re: Feldpost Number database
Was a fp number only assigned once to a particular unit, never to be used again? I'm asking this because I've come to understand that these numbers were periodically changed throughout the war as a security measure...

My results on Fp 30424 says "....wurde Fp.Nr. 37346 B". I think that means that Fp 30424 became (or joined) Fp 37346 at some point.

Yes I have seen them change but I don't when or why.

It sounds that way, did you directly run 37346?

Thanks! Any idea if these number could have been assigned to more than one particular unit throughout the war though? Currently trying to decipher some writing on the liner inside of a m40 Heer so this is certainly a very interesting topic for me at the moment.
I always try to find out as much as I can about any item I acquire, it's one of the more interesting and enjoyable aspects of collecting as far as I'm concerned!

Re: Feldpost Number database
30424:
1.9.1939-1.1.1940 4. Kompanie Grenzwacht-Unterabschnitt II Grenzwacht-Abschnitt 6.
2.1.1940-27.4.1940 nicht verwendet, wurde Fp.Nr. 37346 B.
1.10.1940-27.2.1941 3. Kompanie Feldzeug-Bataillon 17,
11.11.1944 3. Kompanie Nachschub-Bataillo 814.
------ ------ ----- -----
37346:
1.9.1939-1.1.1940 Stab Grenzwacht-Unterabschnitt II Grenzwacht-Abschnitt 6.
2.1.1940-27.4.1940 Stab Grenzwacht-Unterabschnitt II und 4.-6. Kompanie Grenzwacht-Abschnitt 6.
28.4.1940-19.9.1940 nicht verwendet.
1.10.1940-27.2.1941 Kolonne I Nebelwerfer-Regiment 52.
30.7.1941-28.2.1942 Kolonne I Werfer-Regiment 52.
12.3.1943-7.9.1943 Kolonne I Werfer-Regiment 1.
Both Fp numbers seem to be aligned properly with the similarities in the beginning, but I'm not sure what the words in red mean.

Every unit had a 'Stab' or 'Staff', and then a number of companies. Think of a unit as having a stab, then 1. kompanie, 2. kompanie, 3. kompanie, etc. The 'und 4.-6. Kompanie' part refers to the fact that from 2.1.1940-27.4.1940, 4., 5., and 6. Kompanie used the fpn, '37346'.

Re: Feldpost Number database
I think I am starting to understand. Just to get this one thing straight, between 1.10.1940-27.2.1941, the owner of this helmet was a part of 3. Kompanie Feldzeug-Bataillon 17, not Kolonne I Nebelwerfer-Regiment 52?

Re: Feldpost Number database
I tried it and nothing came up? Maybe my Feldpost is a repro??? The number was 951?
Thanks,
Caleb.
