    It is not a bullet hole and it is not an authentic SS decal, sorry to say.

    Often a single hole driven through the center top was the sign of a grave marker.

    Ok...and perhaps even important to me...Why ? 'german helmets' bij Jan M. Meland should give me answers but it does not....so i would be glad to hear what i should look at...

    You should work to get better and bigger photos if you want detailed explanations.

    I have 6 SS-helmets, bought all together in one time at what I thought a rather low price from an old collector. I will post them here one by one. Hope I can learn something from your collective wissdom.

    I lower the format of my pictures before I post them. Is that necessary ?

    We need good big photos to evaluate and give feedback. These are way too small , best play around with it and see what works.
    Always make your close ups straight in front of the decal.

    Also maker and lot number are important. Btw your helmet is an M40.
    Make sure to post each helmet in a separate topic too otherwise it will get too confusing :-)
