SS dd tragedy

Heres the story, I purchased a repainted m40 helmet at a yard sale from an old gal. She siad he husband brought it back, and he recently passed away. I realized that the interior was the original apple green or whatever it is. So my pop carefully removed the paint and exposed what the following pictures depict. A m40 dd that had the decals sanded off. Also the liner seems replaced and is dated 1938, plus one rivet was replaced. Um anyone here know what this was?

The liner colour for a start, The Norwegians dyed them the colour you see, also the areas where the decals have been scratch strongly resemble the shape of the post war decals that were applied.

Wow you guys respond quickly. Just to clarify, was the hemet originally German SS, but then denazified and reissued in Norway?

Lastly I paid 50$ for this I am assuming it was worth it, but does anyone know what this is worth? p.s. sorry for reposting, i couldnt edit becuase of limit.

Nothing of SS at all with this helmet mate , its worth what you paid for it , i wouldnt have paid any more , cheers Raymond

Sorry about not expanding further, I was in a bit of a hurry

I think John has said pretty much everything, yes the liner is the first thing, the colour it has been dyed is very distinctive as is this size stamp, and the area where the decals once were is just too much like the Norwegian post war decals to be anything else. The shoe lace is not "German" and the pins that hold the leather to the liner band are typical Norwegian replacements, they should be flat aluminium.
