SS Schalburg Korps helmet, real?
Hello forum! I recently bought a helmet, which turned out to be fake . Fortunately I didn't spend a lot of money on it (which should have been an indicator that it was fake)
I found out by seeing this website (http://www.fallschirmjager (dot) biz/store_german0046.htm) , who apparently made the fake stuff, which is: Liner, chinstrap, and the decal. They say the helmet shell is original, which I believe is correct, however they also that having "DN94" and "NS64" in the same batch number is quite rare, is this true? And also, I used a bit of steel wool to see if there was any other paint under the black one (maybe some civil defense painted it black post war) but there wasnt. Is a black helmet rare, or more expensive, and were they only used as parade helmets, by the SS?
Kind regards, Frederik

Aged repro ? This indeed looks like one of the helmets that are sold out
of Europe, painted black post-war for civil or Fire Dept use.
Yes, Original black helmets are very rare and expensive.........

Any item which is original and relates to the Schalburg Korps is going to be costly.

Is there any way to tell if it was painted post war? Yes the website that sold this helmet aged the repro stuff to match the rest of the helmet, but they wrote that it was repro, however the guy who bought it from the website sold it as an original.

IMO it looks hand painted. The helmet itself looks ok, but some "gut feeling" makes me dislike the "Wiking" swas. All around it looks asymmetrical and hand painted. The left "hook" is wider at the end. Edges all around looks..... hand painted. My opinion. I might be wrong. Maybe bad pics.

500 Euros is rather a lot for a repro/refurb exotic type lid - especially
when you are not really sure of it's authenticity. This isn't the one
you took steel wool to though, is it ?
