That happens alot Mat. If a dealer can't identify or puts off a fake as original it's sometimes difficult to tell if there were nefarious intentions, or they just didn't know. Consistency over time will tell you who to trust. Good luck!

The only thing you can trust on is your own eyes.
Toxic wait for better pics.
On this pics prongs are wong looking and are wrog connected (to wide)
I saw a copy witch same type pins but the alloy was wrong
Alloy of skull looks O.K
But some details no
If someone show me this pics and ask me you want buy or not I say NO !
But if he send you better pics we can consider.
I have couple orginal Danziger skulls and we can compare
Here I post two of them
I think this posted by me dug is same variation but 100% orginal
Second one is almost same type variation and 100% orginal dug after cleaning in perfect condition

Jay, in this case I'm very sure it's an honest mistake on the dealer's part, and to be fair, if it wasn't for the experience of members here, I would have taken most fakes I've come across as genuine too. Collecting these things really IS a minefield.
Peter, the prongs are indeed completely different to these examples, can anyone confirm this prong type was the only kind featured on originals? Or does the example I've posted still stand a chance? The seller has told me I can purchase it and inspect it myself, with 14 days to decide if I'm happy with it or if I'd like to return it. It just means I'd be out of two lots of postage costs if it's fake, so I'm not sure if it's worth it..?
I suppose a definitive answer on if this prong type existed on originals will decide on if it's worth buying to inspect.
Mat
This type prongs and connection I saw only on a copies.
But I dont want to tell you this skull is 100% fake
Danziger type skulls are sometimes hard to recognize false or orginal
Peter
But if you can check this skull in your hand ist the best options.
You will be 100% sure.
Only this way you can be sure or post more detailed pics and maybe I can help ypu
Peter
I go away tomorrow for a week, and there'll be no internet access, but I'll be purchasing this when I return to inspect it personally, unless someone in the meantime confirms this prong type was never used on authentic Danziger skulls. I'll have photos up if and when I have it.
Mat
I will be buying the badge for inspection tomorrow. No further opinions on if the prong type featured on the example I posted are found on original examples or not? I assumed it would have been a case of 'yes or no'.
Mat
The prongs are not important I think since they're the old style (not under the RZM), you must see the skull on better daylight pictures to make a judgement (to see if It's not a casted product etc).
