"It is authentic mid-late war made of zinc in the mold of the Berlin Hoard 2nd type with very little chance of having been worn by an SS (only tombac there was no aluminum of this type and only early black caps, I have shown some images above in this thread), the zinc ones were made in the mid-late made for werhmacht cavalry units.
