I purchased many years ago from a reputed dealer in Germany a black officers SS peaked cap with these eagle and skull fitted on. Since they appear to be originally fixed on the cap, I prefer not to remove them. However, I have no idea if they are period items and if so, what maker they are from. Both are silvered which is worn off, and pretty detailed. The fitting of the eagle is slightly visible. The skull is fixed in the same manner with flat attachments. Could the specialists please help me to identify these? Thank you in advance.

Thanks for the question, I´m sure someone will help you out with this shortly. In the meantime please post more pictures of the cap itself.

Yes of course, here they are. The interior fabric, which is not (artificial) silk but more a cotton-like tissue, is in reality much more orange in shade than it appears in the pictures.

The skull is fake. I can't comment on the eagle, but it does not look good IMO.

The cap itself is also questionable. The construction does not seem to be of high standard. I'm sure the more knowledgeable members on this here will help you out.

The skull is original from an early Deschler.
here is a comparison and what the back looks like.

there is a small possibility that it is a marked ges.gesch and rzm in the jaw or a large 52 and a rzm in the jaw since these are very similar from the front.
the eagle needs a photo with more detail, not my field but i think it is an m1 / 8.
    I hope this helps.

Thank you, Sir. This is the closest I can get with my limited camera. There is some hard, white old residu of silver polish on the backside, which gives a rather sloppy image here. With the naked eye one sees a neat and sharp imprint on the back. The eagle has 2 attachments in the same tarnished silver colour as the front.
The skull has 2 dark oxydised copper/brass attachments which are inserted in very narrow, tiny slits which are situated right next to the rim of the skull.

The hard white residue on the reverse is most likely the original white frosting that was applied to these when they were new.
Here is my example to compare. You can see the RZM, and numbers on the reverse. Check to see if you can find these on yours.

Difficult to see without forcing the metal. However I managed to take a picture of the backside which shows neat detail of the body and wings. On the right wing (from the back) I see the small circular mark very well.
