The attachement points and overall features look correct for a cupal overhoff (other then the screw) IMO its an original, however I would wait for other opinions
There are multiple areas on the front side that are of concern to me..

And here is a pic of a high quality reproduction. One thing I just noticed on the back of the OP photo, is the M1/24 mark is recessed, wheres it should be embossed. I'm leaning towards it is a copy..
The shape of the right eye socket & nasal 'punch out' are very different to your original too, Buster.

Here you have the comparison with an authentic one with which they would share the same type of wear.
If it were authentic you would see intermediate aluminum poking out somewhere.
It looks very hard, very solid , here you can see how the hooks are all one with the piece, the hooks are not external pieces to the skull how should , add this to what has already been commented previously on the marks on the front too.
In short , it is a cast copy.
