SS skullhead, real or fake?

Here is a SS skullhead insignia I found in a piece of furniture at home. (the needle is broke unfortunately)
On a french forum, someone told me it might be a fake. What do you think about it? Real or fake? And why?

We still require the "scull" authorities here to offer us a tutorial on same to control the proliferation of these threads and otherwise enlighten the seekers of truth, most of whom are disappointed. Wo stecken sie?

We need here a tutorial of the evolution and types, in chronological order, with illustrations.

We have a lot of random pictures in no sensible order of these things, but nothing much that answers the mail in an adequate way.

I wonder why the savants here do not oblige us with their knowledge?

We do not need yet another list of "....known makers...." But examples of same with some elucidation.

We need a visual essay on types, kinds, some marks et cetera.

I mean, there was a time when I pried the things off of caps, but I outgrew it.
