Great photo of soldiers doing what soldiers always do....liberating stuff. I suspect much of the "Battlefield pickups" that ended up in the Allied nations post war, were acquired like this, or bought from other soldiers who had a stash.
Yes great picture. He was an MP at one time and I was told that he played quite a bit of poker with the German prisoners. He said they actually all got along very well. Apparently, the germans used their medals and other pieces for wager inside the POW camps against the Americans cigarettes and extra food.
