Another SS Fez

I just acquired another SS Fez. I must confess I initially bought it to plunder the insignia for my Waffen SS sidecap but I quickly gave up on that thought. SS cloth insignia for caps is a scarce as hen's teeth right now and when they do pop up they fetch a high premium. I saw this fez in rough shape at a very fair price and the sum of the parts far exceeded what the whole cap cost. When the cap arrived I instantly knew I didn't have the heart to cannibalize the insignia because it was expertly sewn on and appears to have been untouched. I figured the cap survived being plundered after the war as is the case with many of these caps so who am I to do it now. The search for a cloth skull continues but I present my latest fez, a little worn with missing tassel strings but lots of character. Now I just have to explain to wifey why I need two of these

My first time seeing a green one.

Besides not wanting to wear bright RED in combat, Was the green a subdued version for that reason?

Red was dress or parade gear I believe. The green was field gear.
