Thank you for the nice display, and Robert H is a fine man. I will find you some more reading on Weber. He was a repugnant figure in the extreme, but gripping all the same. We rejoice that such a nice piece is in your fine collection and thank you for sharing it all with us, as well as the photo essay. There is a large literature on Bavaria in the Nazi period, and especially on Munich and its luminaries in the epoch. I will dig them out. I have piles of books, of course, and many distractions that keep me from proper reading. In 2009-2012 I spent a lot of time in Munich and bought all the most recent works on party history of recent origin. I am less sure about literature in English. Maybe my friend HPL knows of something?

F-B, thank you for the kind words, I would love to read more on the man. From what little I have garnered thus far he was a vile corrupt man. Some may find an artifact like this not worthy of a collection but these are items we study not to honour the men who wore them. These represent a physical touch back into history itself.

Thanks to others for the commentary as well.

    Cheers

I am delighted that you have this item in your collection and your presentation serves the ends of knowledge and the truth. On other websites, of course, Weber and others would be memorialized by some twenty year old Neo Nazi as a martyr and such an object would be made into a fetish object, but our website is apolitical and our interest is in the interpretation and preservation of the past.

A fascinating and absolutely unique one of a kind relic of an infamous and terrible figure of the Third Reich. I would only add that he was so hated in Munich that the war was not over even a week, before a group of Bavarians killed him in the beautiful locale of Swabian Alps on May 11,1945. A fairly "easy" end for someone who deserved so much worse...
Incredible piece of history and those who are truly interested in this fine hobby know what I mean!

Ultra rare item of the SS in their early years. What an amazing find! Congrads.

This book is in German. This additional one includes Weber, I think, too, but I cannot find it at the moment though I read it with much interest. In 2008-2011 I was in Munich a lot for business and tried to keep up on all the works on local history.

    You are welcome.

While Wikipedia is much improved, to be sure, it is hardly definitive and I like this website so enclosed:

    Historisches Lexikon Bayerns

It is a historical encyclopaedia of Bavaria, with the high standard that adheres to much about education and the mind in this part of Germany.
