Ehrenwinkel der Alten Kampfer/Honor Chevron for Old Fighters

Is there any official regulation regarding what uniform this chevron is to be worn with? This has the grey/green backing and is commonly referred to as either a Waffen-SS or Police chevron, but I thought the Police chevron had the black backing with a star to denote Police in the SS. All the black and white photos I see have the chevron with a black backing.
