Can anyone please help to identify this badge, it is 1,5cm across. I was found together with other things ( all pre-war or war dated items) that had belonged to an ( pre-war and war) officer that died approx. 25 years ago. Would also like to know if someone have any hints concerning the value as it up for sale.

Hilton i can't say whether this is wartime or a post war Estonian SS Vets badge although i believe it is the latter , i'm sure some of our Estonian members may be able to clarify this.

Recently i have seen a similar type badge but not enamel being sold on a UK dealers site as an Estonian SS sports badge however the originality of that seems to be in doubt as no one to my knowledge has seen one before.

I can't copy the photo to show it here.

How much is this badge up for sale for ?

    regards

    Paul

Thank you for telling me Paul. This badge is without any markings at all. I don't know what kind of metal it is made of, but could be some kind of nickel alloy, but I guess that it contains silver in some amount because of presence of the rather distinct tarnish often found on silver. The craftsmanship on the badge is excellent, and the enamel work is very nice and very typical in appearance and quality found on work from the 1930-40ties.

I did not buy it, I got it for free from the family of the original owner, an officer that died in the 1990ties. It was mostly pre-war norwegian badges, 2 pre-war norwegian caps, 5 pre-war german tinnies, some other bits and pieces and this mystery badge. He was an officer in the norwegian army in the 30ties, and after what I have been told he was connected to the red-cross under WWII.
