Im no expert by any means either, But I agree with your suspicions that this is a modern fake. There is a very informative thread Ade "sticky posted" at the top of this SS Insignia subforum. Bill, it's not mine, a friend wanted to sell it and I told him it was bad, but my opinion was not enough for him, so I posted it here for confirmation.

Hi Tom, it is bad.

Note the reverse and the fluffy reinforced backing material under the embroidery. This is modern and not something found on originals.

Hi Bill, glad you have read my thread, but please bear in mind this only refers to "Bevo" machine woven cuff titles and it is not really a help in regards to RZM pattern embroidered cuff titles.
