Lovely piece FB, is that a moleskin construction
This cap is the type without the sweat diamond. It has the price tag in it still, actually.

Here is the textile in a picture from the original owner.
A very nice cap! It still amazes me that these items have survived all the years.
Thank you. I have been looking for these things for the last forty four years. I wish I had the first one I got 43 years ago for all of eighty dollars. That was a lot of money, too.
This cap was collected in the 1950s by a young man who emigrated to America from Germany. I have a picture of him and this cap from the year 1960 somewhere. He died and his heirs sold the piece to a colleague of mine, who sold it to me now. So it goes.
I was interested in Nazis in 1960, as well, truth be told, but scarcely able to collect such things, though I started soon thereafter.
I'm on the hunt for a few items myself and I hope to get them before 44 years go by, but if it takes that long it will be worth it.
Was the wait worth the cap FB? I would think so!
Forty four years is a long time, really. I am not sure such a thing makes any sense at all, but each according to his own, as the Prussians say.
One thing is certain: money is today quite worthless.
I would have to agree with you on the money comment. Your cap in my mind is priceless, and the history behind it is worth more money than the US Government could print.
