Wow, very nicering! It's Norwegian volunteers?
Great Ring
AWESOME , any history to go with it Raymond , cheers .
Hi chaps
Thanks for the comments.
It is my only SS piece that I have not tried to research as it only has the initials 'A.N'.
I have always believed it is a German made ring and of course was purchased by the SS who took part in the Norway campaign in 1940.
The craftsmanship on the ring is superb and one of the best private purchase SS rings I have seen.

PS - What a pleasure it is to find another 'Raymond' in the world. There are not many of us left![]()
I find that in Latvia it's a very popular name![]()
Hi Raymond.i think your ring is Norwegian volunteers made. Not german ss for norway campaign.Sorry if i,m wrong....
Nice!!
It was made for the SS soldiers of that campaign. The same markings are found in other rings from Norway although the initials have so far not been IDed.. I believe that is the famous sea port that is engraved in the band..Aways enjoy seeing this ring!
This ring was not made to commemorate the campaign of 1940. There was no Waffen SS units involved in Operation Weserübung

However, SS units were later posted to Norway.
Cheers, Ade.
Agreed, SS came later.. But,, see how the ring looks a little weird by the eagles feet?.. Thats because the ring originally had 2 versions that we know of,,a Luft and Heer/KM version. 2 different eagles.
For the SS they just 'played' around a little to get the runes on and left the 1940 as is..
A very rare ring that I'd bet no more than a handful survived in this condition,,love it! , G.
