Compare....sapere aude. These I enclose are fairly standard alu bestickt, and the earlier variants diverge, also with the grey yarn in use in enlisted and non extra wear. In any case, I think the piece above is not authentic as near as I can tell from the dorky pictures.
There are examples of different embroidery in earlier variants, which the enclosed are not.
They are Kaiserslautern, Hagen, Krems/Donau, Saaz/Karlsbad
Happy patches.
or this....grey yarn of which I wrote above. I think this is from the collection Hritz.
another in grey yarn.
More pitcures.

Your piece might be good; the kicker is the badge cloth itself, that is, the black woolen. It must have the right hand and feel, as it were.
I am not really up on the fakes. The piping looks maybe ok.
We need Hritz and Coleman here, too.
Also, you have to examine the alu Stickerei carefully for the signs of age.
Sorry not to be more forthcoming.
Thank you all for information.
This is realy a great forum.
Regards.

Good luck, Frederich.
I wish I could give you a complete answer, but cannot without actually seeing and feeling the thing.
Happy patches. These are Hritz's treasures and show the pre-1934 variations as well as that of the Stammabteilung.
