This was the sleeve insignia worn by all Waffen SS Mountain troop units.
This example was brought home by a British Veteran and glued into his scrap book, hence the traces of paper on the reverse.

Got to love thoes Vet who saved every thing under the Sun,just wish thay did not have to glue every thing down like paper,worst yet type!! ouch!!!.But hay when you get from a Vet you at least know it's real.Good one Thanks Darrell

Yes, and sadly losing more than 300 WW2 veterans every day.
The glue isn't that bad. I bought about 20 matching sets of Army collar tab and shoulder boards that the vet had mounted to a board with hot wax. I also got 3 brocade belt and buckles that the vet had nailed to a board. Three holes in each belt.
