SS headquarters banner!!!
Scored a major haul of SS items from a captured SS headquarters.
The biggest item is the double sided SS banner.
It is signed by the US Soldiers who captured the headquarters, even the chaplain!
I was told it was a tank destroyer unit.
Need two "helps"!
1. How can I figure out the unit? Tons of names, ranks, and even home addresses.
2. Can I then figure out the SS headquarters?
I also got a lot of SS eagles, insignia, etc.

Looks promising, sounds like quite a score...Looking forward to more photos, perhaps we can be of some assistance...
cheers, Glenn

Well I know the insignia is 100% right. I can post it when I get home. I was looking for assistance on how to research the flag so I can determine where it was flown and captured.

Try checking the phone book to see if the family still live at any of the addresses and if you get a match then ring them up and ask if they know with whom their relative served.

Jerry
Whatever
its just an opinion.

Check some of those signatures, oftentimes you'll see the unit listed somewhere among them...

Glenn, I used to have a TR banner with 72 signatures on it including many with full address, all ranks but not a single mention of the unit. He might be lucky but I assume he already checked before asking.

Feel free to delete my suggestion if you believe it was superfluous...

This is true Jerry. But I am going to make a spreadsheet of all the info and see if I might have missed it. Seems to be about that many signatures too. Does anyone have a website to put names with a unit?

Not at all Glenn, but I made an assumption, it would have been great if the one I had was complete with just one mention of a unit, I looked and looked to no avail. It was quite frustrating and in the end as I lived in the UK and it did not seem possible to check US phone books so I parted with it.
