That's outrageously high-priced...These can be obtained for under $200...
Walk away. If the seller is touting it as an SS ring, he has bumped the price up to extortion. That ring is not an SS ring, nor worth that amount of money.

Thankyou for all replies it is much appreciated and has clearly saved me a small fortune. I was absolutely clueless as to its value. If I see one in the £200/£300 range I’ll make a purchase.
Be sure to share it with us before spending your money...I can't stand seeing folks getting ripped off...
Agree with Glenn, if you don't know what you're buying, please post it before parting with money. It's easy to spend, harder to get back.
