I'm trying to educate myself further on these relics, so if I may ask, how do you know? Any explanations will be greatly appreciated!

The cap is based upon a black Waffen SS Panzer feldmutze in design (cut). However these were never fitted with coloured piping along the upper edge of the turn up. A metal deathshead would also be non regulation. Plus it would also be missing the cap eagle too if it was all in the correct format.
