I was addicted to the "Hokey-Pokey" but I've turned

Your right there, the whole lid has been modified....but I can't see any advantage to a soldier wearing this, a sniper would find it difficult to aim in the prone or even crouching position, it would restrict your head movement......could it be a post war modified shell by a farmer? But again, what for
Soldiers fighing helmet for after a few to many drinks they can have a little biffo with each other
Just a guess but perhaps some sort of training aid-the mesh barrier is not capable of stopping anything that could do damage on a battlefield but a fair deal of work's been done on it-practicing hand to hand combat with clubs, maces etc ?
Could well be, but it's got me scratching my head....it's almost medieval
