Colour of M42 Helmet?

Hey there guys!

Any chance that the helmet was "born" with this colour? (or repainted during wartime?)

The linersystem is obviously a different story.

Hi there, this is a Czech rework IMO. The washers behind the smaller liner rivet heads, the liner/chinstrap and the black repaint are indicators. Many German lids were re-used postwar by various nations, for civil defence or civic duties like fire fighting.

I agree with my learned friends - I have one too ( a M35 ) that some propeller head painted ordnance tan ........ now its a DAK for dummies!!!!
I actually think yours is great - all original post war Czech - and so many get stuffed up trying to be wartime that soon there will be none left in their original configuration.
