The seller has this up as a transitional WW1 era German/Austrian helmet. I'm no expert on the transitional equipment of the early Third Reich and the late Austria, so I thought it best to touch base here to see whether this what the seller says it is.

I would say: an Austrian M17 reissued to the Austrian Gendarmerie (see small rivets for placing flaming bomb insignia).

Later again reissued to the Finns, as suggests the small washers used under the larger rivets and the replaced liner and strap. Colour dark green? Could be Finn as well. The handpainted flag is fake i.m.o.

The helmet you are showing is a quite interresting one.
It seemst that it started it´s service as a helmet for the austrian-hungarian army
did serve in the austrian gendarmerie and also saw Service during the third reich period.

The state the helmet is now clearly shows that it´s active Service life ended as a Police
    helmet of the austrian police.

These helmets were reissued after the war and were used till around 1962.
I am a collector of austrian helmets and have seen them in different states of modification.
The split Pins are "textbook" for These Police helmets.

    Best regards

    Bernhard
