i personally have had this lid in my hands with a magnifying glass it looks 100% genuine to me any rust patches are really old and dark and fade into the paint naturally.Im not saying for sure but could be italian/Greek campaign colours almost like a sand clay colour.It is a wonderfull helmet as soon as you pick it up you get that smell and feeling from it that a modern thing does not have so im betting its real .Andy
