Gidday All,
Can anybody tell by these pictures if this Helmet is Genuine or not.
It has been offered to me but I am not sure if it's worth 150 Euros or not. The makers mark on the chin strap is
gunt.vogel cottbus 1939
Many Thanks,
Geoff

Hi Geoff, and welcome............ I have a couple of questions that you might want to consider
Why are there no straight shots, and why are the pictures taken on such a busy background?
I don't like the liner, it looks artificially aged or the chinstrap for that matter.
No idea about the lid, which is an M40 by the looks of it
Better pictures for sure are needed
Don't like the colour either![]()
the thing that i noticed was how rough the inside of the lid looks, looks like a pitted surface repainted over ????
Nick, It all looks too sus to me![]()
& not worth chancing 150 euros on either save ya money![]()
Thanks Guys,
I did notice the rough interior as well....I am chasing a complete M35 or M40..dosn't have to be flash just as long as it's original...if you hear of anything please drop me a line.
Best Regards
Geoff
it all depends on how much your willing or have to spend as any type of german helmet in original & good condition wont be cheep. but if you go here http://www.3rdreichburiedtreasures.com/home.php theres some nice lids there have good look theres a very nice M35 double decal helmet at a good price![]()
If this helmets an m40 how was it produced in 1939?Doesnt 40 represent that it was made it 1940?
Sorry if my questions stupid im new to this German stuff
It's an M40 variant, look at the vent holes, they look stamped rather than separate, the chinstrap is dated 39.
This helmet could have been manufactured from early 40-42
Thanks John forgot the chinstrap can be from different years
