Article about: I am not sure if I have shown you this photo before but its enought to make a grown man cry. At the end of the German Occupation of the Island of Jersey tons of militaria was gathered up and

    I am not sure if I have shown you this photo before but its enought to make a grown man cry. At the end of the German Occupation of the Island of Jersey tons of militaria was gathered up and dumped into the tunnels the German has made around the Island. Thousands of helmets were stacked up and the tunnels were sealed. The tunnels were broken into many times over the years by people looking for souvenirs and the attached photo was taken by a friends Father when he went into the tunnels in the 70's. As you can see there was not a lot left by then and there's not one helmet left today. What a waste.

    No, there was everything in the tunnels and what was not pinched over the years rotted away.

    Wow that would be interesting to come across, if you were not suspecting to find them!!! I would think that they would have scrapped the steel rather than fill a pit with them, NOT that I would have wanted that to happen either...

    Interresting picture.I belive if I am correct or remember correctly there is a large picture in the museum of a scene like this.
