German M40 Chickenwire Half Basket - Real? Fake? Need Help Authenticating!

I got a German M40 Chickenwire Half Basket last year and after a while I started having doubts about it being 100% authentic and I need some help with it as I most collect French helmets so I'm not to good at always seeing problems with German helmets and with this one especially.











































I tried to give as many photos as possible and some of them may have flipped but hopefully they are still clear enough to see if there even there, just as some notes the paint seams to maybe be a reissue paint as there are 2 layers of paint but I have seen similar paint on a faked SS helmet, the rust on the chin strap lugs seams to be new but I'm not sure, there are faint makers marks on the chinstrap (I think it's dated 1940) and the liner band has stampings I think but I don't want to take it out, lastly the chicken wire seams real and the wear and tear it has on the helmet but I could be wrong, the draw string seems a bit off but I'm not sure, and lastly the liner has an ink stamp 57 in circle.

Sorry to say, IMO, the whole helmet looks like a new creation.

I'm not liking the liner and strap as well

I agree with MAP’s concerns. And for me the paint lacks the age and patina of a pre-1945 paint job. This was the first thing that stood out.

it's new post war repaint with relic parts dropped in it seems or aged repros (liner and strap).
No need to talk about the wire.

All chickenwire helmets are new fakes, unless proven otherwise.

Old original chickenwire helmets are truly rare, nonexistent.

Its "new" collector trend to have them in helmets, and fake makers do what market demand is.

The rough finish inside the shell is also a warning signal. Many M40s have a rough-finish exterior but the inner finish is smooth. This is not too easy to fake in a convincing manner.

as others have said its all bad, artificially aged, also the helmet shell started off as a relic as you can see along the inside rim, so bondo (body filler) is present aswell under all that paint. For the textured paint inside the helmet they did that to hide the pin holes and imperfections in the bondo job. Hope you can be refunded.

Actually quite an amateur attempt at creating patina. The liner is laughable.
