That's a beauty GCR and in a 68 too! I do like saltier helmets and I'm sure this one has some stories to tell.
What colour is the paint in the light? Looks like a darker Luft blue.

That had to have hurt.
But overall a solid battle vet. I like it, even if it is a sized 68
"Please", Thank You" and proper manners appreciated
My greatest fear is that one day I will die and my wife will sell my guns for what I told her I paid for them

Thanks guys!
Andy I think its Field Grau I believe is the correct term?
-
Felgrau is the German word to describe the various shades of dark green paint and material used by the German army while Luftwaffe helmets are found in a variety of shades of blue. Having said that some can be darker than others and can even darken even more so with age. And of course paint colours can vary again between the different manufacturers.

Not up on my german terminology, I am only about half German, the good half! Lol
Looks more grey to me.

Only picking up a bit of German here and there myself CGR
Any chance of a daylight photo? Colours can change so much depending on the background, the light etc. have a look at a little post I made a few weeks back on that very topic: Changing colours.

Thanks! Just checked it out and I agree, taking pics of helmets is usually a chore especially camo helmets. I don't have one in sunlight but will take one asap, been overcast here for 2 days, not sure if it will be sunny tomorrow or not.
I took that pic earlier in a light cube with a bright light shining on it, its even darker color in than the pics show.
