Pretty cool to get 2 helmets from the same manufacturer with the same lot number! The second of those 2, however, does not have the original liner. The leather liner without holes in the fingers is from a civi liner and was probably installed on what appears to be an original reinforced aluminum band, also not original to the M42 shell, by a collector post war. I still think its a great piece to have since you also own its twin brother! Anyway, you are now officially hooked! It is a fun hobby. Enjoy! Jim G.

Thank you Jim, I only managed to find repainted or poorly restored stahlhelms up until now but this lot was a great opportunity to get the real deal. It's truly fascinating to see an untouched German helmet and imagine what it's been through.
I paid on average 105€ for each helmet in this grouping which is just unbelievable.

Are they from the same source as the DD you posted earlier ?
Looks like something was done to the decals, maybe post war paint was taken off these helmets. Also some liners swapped.
I wouldn’t call these untouched.

Yes, these are the other helmets from the grouping I mention in the camo DD thread and they belonged to the same collector. The wear on the decals does seem rather strange now that you mention it, maybe they were painted over during wartime like the M42 and someone attempted to make them visible again?
Which liners besides the civil one do you suspect to have been replaced?

Helmet 2 and helmet 3 but I would check all.
