    Gentlemen,

I present this single-decal Heer M42 for your comments and opinions.

I like the patina on this one - it has a nice single coat of grey-green paint; at least, I think that there is only bare steel beneath the layer I can see, so probably not repainted or re-issued. The stamps are very lightly struck but I can make out 'NS66' and '?339'. The inner skirt is named to one 'Didrich'.

Liner is ink-stamped '59'; chin-strap is un-marked, or the mark is worn away. There is a dome stamp, but unfortunately it is barely legible; I can make out a letter or two, but perhaps someone here will have better luck with it. I attach two photos in different light conditions.

As to the decal - I think it looks good. I believe it to be one of the 'thin-wing' HJ&K decals as often seen on NS M42s. Have I got it right at last?

    Thanks for looking!

Nice helmet - decal looks like a good HJK to me.
    First digit could be 5 or 6 making it a late(r) M42.

As the initials on the liner are D.S. then the "Didrich" is a male first name and seems to be Nordic, being their version of "Dietrich".....interesting.

I think it unlikely that a soldier would name their helmet with their first name - so possibly the 'Didrich' and 'D.S.' are unrelated? Helmets being re-issued etc. One sees a few examples with two different names now and again.
