Retook photos on some of my lids in direct sunlight and I believe they turned out satisfactory.

Any chance the chinstrap is a "Wilhelm Ellers" maybe 1941 dated ?? Just a guess

Negative - it is a ftb 44 = Maker code LLG in Karlsruhe-Hagsfeld
