If a factory reissue, why still have the non-reinforced liner band? .......I thought that would've been done.

This is the description from the website
Original German WWII M35 Single Decal Heer Apple Green Helmet Ex-Whitewashed ET64-
Presenting an authentic German WWII M35 Single Decal Heer Apple Green Helmet with a fascinating history. Originally a double decal, this Heer M35 underwent a period-appropriate removal of its Tri-Color decal and is nicely done. The exterior of the helmet bears traces of a past whitewashing, evident in paint chips, around the split pins, and the air vent.
The helmet retains its correct factory-applied ET Heer Eagle, approximately 80% intact. While the liner band shows no signs of removal, the wartime leather liner may have been replaced during the war, though this remains uncertain. The outer liner band is an aluminum, non-reinforced type, dated 1937, and the supple leather liner is a size 56.

While I've never done it to an original helmet, I have on a restoration - getting those thin alloy split pins that hold the leather onto the liner band itself in place without removing the whole band is nearly impossible - that's not how it was done in the factory either -the assembly was built first then the 3 split rivets held into the shell....

That make sense to me, thanks

That border around the decal is the lacquer.
Don't think I've ever seen a decal so neatly removed. Can hardly see it was even there.
Also odd for the dealer to make the statement about the leather liner being swapped out...unless he knows something.....
It if done correctly (and very hard to do) it is very hard to tell. Wartime, they would have replaced the whole liner as far as I'm concerned

I thought the leather looked added before I read the description. Personally I would avoid post war messed with helmets.
It looks to me like the leather is a spliced leather version, which would mean it was replaced. These were not used in early single band aluminum liners.
Cheers,

Thank you Gentlemen, I backed out of the deal. I want nothing to do with doctored helmets
