Default M40 with number scratched under visor

    Hello
I have just received a really nice SE66 M40. It is in fabulous condition, apart from the adler which has flaked off rather than being scraped in line with the 1943 regs. It has a fabulous liner and chinstrap, although there are some cracks in the strap and flaking to the edges of the liner.
Question Guys ! It has a number scratched underneath the visor, and also written in pencil inside the crown, which is all but impossible to take a picture of.
Does anyone know what this number is ? W 947156 ?M40 with number scratched under visorM40 with number scratched under visorM40 with number scratched under visorM40 with number scratched under visor

    Could be a Feldpost number.
The 1943 regs you are talking about refer to the factories not applying the WM decals and not to soldier scratching of decals.

Can you post a photo of the chinstrap buckle ?
