A lot number match is no guarantee it used to be SS.
One lot number can be SS, Heer , LW etc....
As a post war used fire brigade helmet it is collectible as it is , would be a pity to ruin it.

Agree with Frank. It is a pristine post war used helmet. Except for the shell, no parts are WW2 era. So stripping it back would not achieve anything.

Thanks guys, anyway i will try to remove the Black color. I want to repaint it with feldgrau color + put an "original" decal on it

...but why? As stated above, it's a beautiful example and perfect for a display showing the evolution of German helmets. Stripping the paint off and faking a new look would be a real shame.

I agree, this is not the right candidate lid for a refurb project.
It's a complete post war Czech fire fighters helmet, best to leave alone.

And what you think about the price? I paid 38 €. What is real value for this helmet in this condition?
