I have a question, what do you reckon the original color was (not talking about the original paint but rather the original color of the paint)? I'm just kind of curious of the variations of color in m40 and m42 helmets (and I guess reissue m35s too).

Beautiful helmet! Sometimes the color can change just from the way the photo is taken. Here is my M42 CKL Heer that is virtually untouched with the exception of some storage marks. Outside photos give a good indication of original CKL color.
