Wonderful combat lid. These are the type I really love. There is history behind this helmet!

Henry Grayson for those who can't read upside down
US Vet? Have you looked him up?
I found two Henry Grayson's on NARA. One from Lousiana (but enlistment records say 1946) and one from Illinois (42 enlistment).
I have never looked him up and to be honest I wouldn't even know where to start. Any help with that or points in the right direction would be much appreciated!

Find A grave is a good place. I used the National Archives NARA Database. Here is the link. It is a decent starting point. Ancestry.com is good too. But unless you have a serial number it is always hard to tell if it is the same person. In this case, Henry Grayson is listed as being from Cook County Illinois. African American, Born in 1902. Was married and had two years of college. Not a young man when he enlisted.
