M42 Helmet
Hello everyone!
I am looking to acquire my first helmet and have been searching for the past few months. A couple days ago I came across this helmet. It is stamped with "hkp 64" above the lot number "4416." It has an intact liner and chin strap with the marking "EAS 44."
I just wanted a second opinion on its authenticity before making an offer.
Thanks,
Colin

Hi Colin,
It’s an original late war German M42 albeit with some damage to the dome of the shell.

Oh, and I’ve read that the chinstrap maker EAS is not often encountered.

Thanks for the information Andy!

I agree with Andy. The damage on the dome would put me off though.
If you decide to purchase, then this should be reflected in the price. Don't be afraid to wait though for a better example.

I see where it is - the collectors Guild have many nice helmets - the prices are up there however IMO.

That's a steep price for an ND. (did I just say that ?) :-)

Yea .... Whatever happened to the beauty of Helmets? This guy just sees price tags everywhere he goes. LOL.
Not! (as they used to say in the 90s)

The Collectors Guild sell on consignment so the prices are set by owner of the item. Sometimes items are listed as “or best offer” and as that helmet has been there for quite some time now you could ways try making an offer via the dealer.
