Looks like a nice one to me!

A very nice M42, personally if there is no sign of tampering and it is not something obvious like a 1937 run M35 with a 1942 liner, i have no issue with earlier dated liners being in later run helmet shells. Old stock was often used to construct helmets as and when the box was pulled off the shelf. Leon.

Common to see a 1940 dated band in an M42. Nice helmet !!

Really nice helmet Todd.
So the other helmet posted by someone else recently was an M42 with re-enforced aluminium liner band - I thought this was a bit unusual, but are we saying this is a possibility? Or just very rare?

Hi Nick
There have been aluminum re-enforced liners dated 1941 & as late as 1943 (according to Ken). I have seen 41 dated aluminum. So they do exist. But rare

Thanks David! Yeah, I was mentioning that as an FYI. I also have an M40 here with a '37 dated band which may stretch credulity for some, but a DRP '40 in a M42 is no cause for suspicion providing the installation looks normal.

An M42...1940-43 is what is expected for a liner in a decaled helmet
