Left: B/II prototype. To have been the new 'stahlhelm 45' but never put into mass production. It has the M44 liner system.
Right: M45-A. Also called 'ventless M42'. It has the M31 liner system.

As I heard one guy found the similar helmet (left) in Latvia, and someone told that this is model 44, is it?
I would like to see a photo of your friend's helmet.
This one was produced in 1944 (IKA44 rivets) but it is called the B/II prototype. Some also call it the M45. M45 is a label that has been applied to both helmets.
I ask you to show what this helmet inside
Liners
B/II (Left)
M45-A (right)

Has anyone ever seen a pre-May 1945 photo of this helmet? I have read descriptions of it before and seen one or two others photographed in collections. It would make for a fascinating display with a Liebermuster cammo uniform!

A similar one to this but with ventilation holes and single decal was sold, a couple of months ago, on ebay at a real crazy crazy price....Has anyone seen this auction?
One of the best sources where to acquire infos about this helmet, still remain the Baer's book....
1.Here is a G.I. Joe doll someone fabricated to resemble a late Wehrmacht soldier wearing the B/II (stahlhelm 45) helmet, Leibermuster smock, sturmgewehr MP44 assault rifle, and erzatz canvas equipment.
