I love the photos in the sun - the camo looks great.

I think it is unlikely to be an SS EF M40 as you typically see them on M42.
As Andy says - the decal would also be on the wrong side unless SS volunteer which i don't think is the case here.

Hopefully it is just a worn Heer decal. I would really like to see the USB close-ups.

There is a good thread on USB microscopes here:

Here are some microscopic photos of the decal. The first one is top right and I think might be part of the top of the wing.

The second one is around the area where the swastica should be.

The third one is in the area where I thought the left wing might be but no luck

The last ones I took in different areas around the center of the decal I think easy to loose track of where you are at on the decal.

Overal I need more practice with the USB Microscope and I do not think help all that much with the decal.

Good photos with the USB scope. Based on the photos I've taken with my USB scope of both Heer and SS decal, I'd be leaning towards Heer. Difficult though to be 100% sure.

I am pretty convinced its a Heer - all signs point to it being a Heer.

You have to change the settings of the microscope to get bigger photos otherwise it will be useless.

Resolution should be 1280x960 or higher.

Size wise the photo should be as attached.
