Someone close to me purchased this helmet and i wanted to show it and get opinions. I am paranoid because of how good the fakes look and I know nothing about helmets.....here it is.

My .02$:
No major wear on the exterior,
The wire; it's color seems too reddish.
Maybe original shell.
Don't take my word for it however. I'm still trying to learn the things to look for.

the helmet itself might be original but the wire certainly isn't if you remove the wire and get close shots of the decals that will help
I dont like this one at all. I think the liner is a aged fake/repo as is the liner string. The wire basket is also a modern aged repo. The paint seems to lack wear and I dont like the colour so I would vote its been repainted and with that fake decals, cant call the decals though without good closeup pics.
The shell looks likely to be the only good thing, vents match hkp shells, just not crazy about the font, but looks ok.
What do the others think?
I agree. Post war mock up made very recently.
Cheers, Ade.

Fake wire including decals
Take note of how closely the wire fits to the shell. How would anyone be expected to fit vegetation, tree branches etc in? Theres no room! A huge red flag there alone, even if you don't know about the fake liner, drawstring, decals, paint etc
That's an easy one!
All crap
Fake paint, fake decals, fake wire, even a fake liner..
The old faker crowd really love wire at the moment they must be buying up every roll they can get !!

'Total crap' - as suggested. Indeed, there are some very well done
repros/fakes out there - but this is not one of them !
No reason to be paranoid if you educate yourself
on what to look for.........!
