Hi Guys I picked this up recently, The story goes. Bought home after the war by a Kiwi sailor inherited by his grandson who is a serving member of the ADF.
It has been sitting on top of a wardrobe for many years.
I have seen a few over paint lids but this one looks like it may have been apple green, LW blue then Heer.
I can only see traces of one decal, and there is a dome stamp but I can't make it out and the batch number is partially covered by the name but I can read -430, the liner leather is still supple but the chinstrap is starting to become brittle.

Very nice. Not saying it is any of the men below from the VDK casualties list, but it does make one think of the owner who once wore this lid, long ago. Name, birth and death date with location if know:

Can you make close ups of where the decals sit under the paint ?
