Here's my Quist as a reference for you for later. Liner is a 1944.
It takes a while, but your knowledge will build up.
Helps if you get a chance to handle real ones.
Military events and trade shows are a good way.
I'm still learning too.

Nice score on the SS helmet. Shame it was defaced, but it's still an SS helmet.

Thank you for your reply and for the pictures! Yes I am very glad that I didn't buy that fake helmet, I hope that I'll be able to get a real one like yours!
I'm hoping that I'll have enough time to attend a military collecting event, It's indeed very helpful to hold the real deal in your hand before purchasing it.

I'm also very happy with my SS M42! But I've been told that it is possibly fake so I posted better pics in it's own thread ( M42 Stahlhelm Heer? SS? Real or fake? ).
