Reissued M35 DD Luftwaffe - Named and unit marked.
I posted this over on GHW2 a couple of days ago, and as I haven't posted anything over here in awhile, I figured I'd post it here as well.
A recent local find - Reissued ET66 M35 DD Luftwaffe helmet. Lot number 4278 with a reinforced 1939 DRP liner.
Interior of the leather has name label “Buge” and unit stamp of ”Abt. I/12” (not exactly sure of the “I”, could be an L or a 1, so I would appreciate any opinions or info on the unit stamp).
It is also named in three places on the interior skirt to a Gefr ?, haven’t deciphered the name yet, but all three skirt scratched in namings are likely the the same.
The helmet exhibits lots of wear and some paint loss. The decals are showing through, There is some play to the liner, but all pins are original with original bends and display verdigris. There is evidence of a prior whitewash around some pins and vent rivets. The leather exhibits possible use of hair grease, but it is relatively soft and supple. The strap has been trimmed of excess leather beyond the seventh hole.
All in all, a pretty decent find, with a good veteran look. As always, all comments or opinions are most welcome, thanks for looking.

Very nice and named too! Does look like Gefr to me too. Love these DD Luft lids.

I think “Gefr” is an abbreviation of the “Gefreiter“ Rank. I’ve seen on many helmets before. Congrats on your new helm.

Thats why people call you "Gefreiter Andy" behind your back. No ... Its cool though. Think that rank is unique to the German Army if memory serves me correct.

Hello,
The Yefreytor (Russian: Ефрейтор) rank was used also by Russian Imperial Army, and later by RKKA and Soviet Army ;D German influence of course. Also KuK army used it ;D
Nice helmet, congratulations!
Best regards
