Decals and paint are post war in my opinion.

That looks like paint buildup to me Dan, in #5 there appears to be a clear delineation between the shell and the rivet. If it is an M40, that is a major red flag for a DD SS.
An inside shot would tell for sure but i agree with Terry that some "smartartist" has cobbled this together.

My two cents. Vent bushings are hard to tell if m35 or m40, but I'm leaning towards M40 (kiss of death) but either way do we think they look like Quist bushings? Not even commenting on the originality of the decal itself, but if a Q, we have a Pocher style decal instead of a Quist decal.
That said, if a Pocher or a Quist you would expect to see the double layer around the edges of the runes, which from these pictures I can not see.
Thoughts? I'm still honing my skills...

M40 pictured is a M35
Its a m40, you can see in the pic that reneblacky posted, the grommets on m35s are more sloped. The helmet is not good regardless.
