Hey yall. I was hoping to get a little help on a helmet a buddy of mine is trying to sell me. I have no idea if it's even ww2, but it looks like it's german. Obviously the liner is a repro, but other than that I need help.

It is a German M42 i think! Better photos will help everyone including you to decide the helmet's ID... So, german M42 with a replaced liner (i think i've seen this type of liner somewhere else) but in very very bad condition! I think the orange spots may be cleaned if you have the knowledge and patience to do so! If the price is ok then go for it!

It's basically a relic shell with an incorrect liner, so if you are
interested, don't pay much - like under $100.

Edit: Maybe a bit more, because I see what looks like
an original liner band in there.........
    Regards,

    Steve.

Save your money is good advice, the orange splotches are recent rust
In other words an attempt to age an already semi relic condition M 42
    Why the British liner?????
Again another reason to save your money

I would rather use 100us to buy some small but original patches. Less frustration later on.
