White camo M35 Probable KIA Helmet !!

Article about: This lid was recovered in the Auwere swamp in eastern Estonia hence it's good condition. The helmet is a slate grey colour but has clearly been White camo with the outline of a decal on the

    Paul, Besides all the obvious damage, I am amazed at the condition of not only the shell but the leather especially. Thanks for showing this remarkable relic. Bob

    Thanks Bob , the vegetation in this area can form a blue clay which preserves things in very good condition !

    Map I would find it more probable that a 7.62×54mmR from a Nagant could do that damage.

    Brian has a lot no 21741 which is a SD Heer if that helps?

    Agree. Always thought it was a Nagant round but it is still roughly a 30 caliber. I just have a hard time understanding how it could cause so much damage and fling the pieces 30 meters.

    The helmet and damage is real. No doubt about that.

    Where the helmet was found there was much close quarter fighting in the trenches and strongpoints on the raised areas of the swamp , this wasn't necessarily a long distance shot but could have been at quite close range.
