Winter camo m40, opinions?
This helmet is on eBay and is asking 250 for it, he is selling it as a original barn find but to me it looks like its been painted with spray paint as you can see on the inner skirt the over spray and new rust and not near enough wear and the paint looks new in places! The shell itself looks original and so does the liner. What do you guys think of it?
The price is good...shell is good, liner is good...I can't say for sure about the paint, but I like the overall look of the helmet...

For 250 I can get one with original paint
Yes the price is not to to bad and I like the inners but I don't like the paint

Yes, that is a postwar paint job. Best to move along. Ebay is not the place to find something like this, see the pinned thread on how to find a good helmet in the SS helmet section. Your time is best spent elsewhere.

Thanks Doug I'll go check it out now and yes ebay is FULL of postwar paint jobs and tons of helmets that were reissued to the Czech's
Shell, liner and chinstrap look original at least. Paint aside for $250 it's not bad. A few hours with some cotton balls and a bottle of acetone and it might clean up 1/2 decent.
